My accounting class is going well. On the first test I made a 102, the second a 97. I only have three weeks left. Yay! In other news my birthday was last Saturday and both of my parents were in town to help me celebrate turning 27. 27 yikes! I feel as though I am getting so old. Since my Dad was in town we did not get to do any major hiking as he cannot hike but we did have a good time that included a picnic lunch, outlet mall shopping, and lunch one day at the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, GA. If you are in the area you should visit and try some yummy southern food.
Alright, so let's go back to my purple kitchen table. I have this little two person table that my Dad gave me about three years ago. It needed a whole lot of TLC to make it look half way decent. I painted it a pale yellow color before I moved to Athens about two years ago. I then covered it in a sealer. However, the sealer was old and it streaked something fierce so it was never painted properly. Fast forward to this summer. I decided to re-paint the table. I was standing in the paint section at Wal-Mart looking at the paint colors and I saw a very pretty purple. A spur of the moment decision to buy paint led me to buying a color that I have nowhere else in my home. :-) Now I have a nifty purple table in my black and red kitchen. No, it does not match but somehow it works. It will get me through until I have an actual dinning room area that I can put a real table. Here are a few before and after photos for you...
Table with the ugly yellow streaks and already looking better with a little bit of primer...
FYI... You can click on the photos to view them in a larger size. :-)
It is P-U-R-P-L-E!!!
So my kitchen table is purple but it works. Next blog FDR State Park... :-) ~ Carlye

Well, I have seen the purple kitchen table first hand, and I think it works very well in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed being with you on your birthday. I can hardly believe that I have a daughter that is 27 years old.
The food at the Blue Willow Inn iwas really delicious. It is one of my favorite places to eat in the area.
I am so glad you are doing so well in your accounting class. It will be so nice for you to get that behind you. Now you just have to get the finance class behind you.
Keep walking on the treadmill and maybe when the weather gets cooler, you will start getting back out on the trails.
Love, Mom
Hey Carlye...
ReplyDeleteIt's good to seeing you blogging again, I was missing it hehe
So I totally love the color of your table, I'm not sure what the rest of your kitchen looks like, but I'm sure it works. When you first told me that you painted it purple, I was imagining like a crazy purple, but it's REALLY pretty!
Keep using that treadmill especially while it's warm...I know here there's no way you can go hiking, our temps have hit 100 a couple of days..yuck!
